What is Cardio Tai Chi?

Cardio Tai-Chi is a combination of ancient Chinese martial arts and modern sports science. It is a high-energy, low-impact exercise based on the philosophies of Tai-chi Chuan and a holistic health system. Using an innovative teaching approach, the “Tai-Chi Bird” story, Cardio Tai-chi is easy to learn, remember, and practice by oneself or in groups.

Martial arts have become a great source for cardiovascular exercise. Cardio Tai-chi was developed to provide a high-intensity workout that minimized risk to the joints, ligaments, and muscles. Cardio Tai-chi maintains a high level of intensity while remaining less aggressive than other martial arts based aerobic systems. In this way, there is far less possibility of hyper-extension of the joints or pulled muscles when training.

The American College of Sports Medicine recommends that in order to keep a healthy heart, one should try to maintain a balanced, low-fat diet and perform at least 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise 3 to 5 days each week. The aerobic exercise should fit the individual and a good exercise program will be aimed at the goals of the individual; whether it is to lose weight, to stay healthy, or for athletic training.
